Is there a new family who recently moved into your neighborhood?
Being hospitable to new neighbors has been a tradition. We've all experienced moving into a different place at some point in our lives. We surely loved and appreciated how your neighbors welcomed you. Now it's time to make the new family experience that.
A good community gives you that feeling of being in a safe and comfortable place. It is consists of a great neighborhood whom you can trust and have fun with.
There are several ways to welcome your new neighbors, but we don't want to look pushy or make them feel overwhelmed. Here are some simple ways to make them feel welcome.
Introduce Yourself - After a day or two, go over and say hello. It would be great if you could be with your family or other neighbors too. It doesn't need to be a really long conversation. Exchange names, ask them what brought them into your neighborhood, if they have pets (everyone loves talking about these cute pets), share with them where you live, or perhaps exchange phone numbers if you're comfortable with it.
Offer help and bring over some snacks - Your home-baked cookies or lasagna would be perfect. Remember, these don't need to be expensive. Offer them assistance, maybe they still need help with unpacking. Make them feel that they are welcome to ask you for information about the neighborhood, best local restaurants, schools, or church.
Invite them over - Plan with your other neighbors. A casual backyard barbecue party is an excellent way to celebrate and get to know each other. Of course, you need to consider if your neighbors have already settled in. This is also a great way for the new kids to make some friends and adjust.
Introduce them to the Neighborhood Association - This is an excellent way to show them all about your neighborhood and the community within the association. Invite them to join in and get involved!
Be friends on social media - If you have a neighborhood group on Facebook, it will be a big help if you add them. This way they can easily reach out and ask questions.
